Leota Rae Perry

Ava, MO

Leota Rae Perry, 78 years, 5 months, and 28 days old, passed to Heaven on May 30, 2016 at her home in Ava.

Leota was born December 2, 1937 in Omaha, NE to Karl Coleman and Verna Lois Goochey. Leota received her GED in 1972.

On June 2, 1957 Leota and Fred Ernest Perry were united in marriage in Sabetha, KS and to this union four children were born. Leota was a resident of the Ava community since 1978 moving from Iowa.

Leota was retired from working as a Restorative Nurse Assistant. She had worked at Heart of the Ozarks (Chastain's Nursing Home) in Ava for 28 years. She was Christian and a member of the Harvest Project Revival Center in Mansfield, MO.

Leota enjoyed gardening, canning, caring for her pets and most of all being with her family!

Leota was preceded in death by her parents,her husband, Fred, one daughter, Verna Jean and one brother, Donnie.

Leota is survived by three children, Laura Downey and husband, Mike, Ava, MO, Kevin Perry and wife, Candace, Iowa and Norman Perry, KC, MO, 10 grandchildren; Crystal, Tiffany, Cody, Vincent, Angel, Jennifer, David, Jerry, Josh, and Alex, 13 great grandchildren, three sisters; Linda Parr, Betty Morgan, and Darla Westin Van Norman, one brother, Richard Goochey, several nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.


Cremation services are being conducted by Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO. A memorial for the family will be held at a later date and time.
