Leroy Dennis Downs, 47 years and 1 month, passed to heaven on March 4, 2015 at Cox Medical Center South.

Dennis was born February 4, 1968 in Springfield, MO, to Wilburn and Barbara (Nelson) Downs. He graduated from Ava High School in 1987.

Dennis and Jennifer Gastineau were united in marriage on December 25th, 1989 in Ava, MO and to this union three children were born.


Dennis was employed by O'Reilly's.

Dennis enjoyed coon hunting, fishing, and spending time outdoors. He loved spending time with his family and friends, especially his 2 grandchildren.

He was a Baptist and a member of the Eastern Gate Baptist Church in Ava. Dennis became an Ordained Minister with the church.

Dennis was preceded by Parents, Wilburn and Barbara (Nelson) Downs; and Grandparents Marvin and Nona Downs, Robert and Maudie Nelson.


Dennis is survived by his wife, Jennifer Downs, Ava, MO; 3 children: James Downs, Jacob Downs, and Jordan Downs; 2 Grandchildren: Emery Downs and Parker Downs, one sister: Lisa Wedemeyer of Ava, MO; and a host of family and friends


Funeral services for Dennis will be Saturday, March 7, 2015, at 10:00 AM in the Clinkingbeard FH, Ava, MO with burial in the Whites Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, March 6, 2015 from 6:30-8:00 PM in the funeral home. Officiating will be James Orick.

Memorials may be made to the family as a love offering.
