Lester Paul Miller, 73, Flippin, AR, passed away on October 21, 2010 at his residence. He was born on December 24, 1936 in Springfield, MO, the son of Elijah Swearington and Tressie Miller.
Lester graduated from Gainesville High School, Gainesville, MO class of 1954. He worked as a logger in his younger years for a saw mill. He later worked as a welder for many years until his retirement. Lester was a former resident of Arlington, IL, where he served as Mayor. He later moved to Amboy, IL, before coming to Flippin, AR in 2008 to be with his daughter. He loved country music and one of his favorite hobbies, or side jobs, was playing in a country western band.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister; one granddaughter; and one great granddaughter. Lester is survived by five daughters Hazel Lawrence and her husband Dave of Arlington, IL, Goldie Rosson of Leon, KS, Leslie Hurst and Eddie Finley of Flippin, AR, Emma Jo Purifoy of North Little Rock, AR, and Jennifer Miller of Little Rock, AR; thirteen grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren; one sister Emma Thayer of Flippin, AR; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 23, 2010 in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Gainesville, MO with Tom Cantrell officiating. Visitation will be Saturday from 11 a.m. to service time at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Dit Cemetery, Nance, MO.
