Lester Sanders

Lester Sanders, 85 years, 11 months, and 30 days old, passed to heaven on September 26, 2012 at Cox Medical Center South.

Lester was born September 27, 1926 in Douglas County, MO to Burl and Bertha (Alcorn) Sanders.

Lester and Lottie Prine were united in marriage June 21,1946 and to this union three children were born.

Lester was a school bus driver for 35 years and worked at Ava Tire with Dallas Cunningham for nearly 30 years. He loved his bus and the kids on his route. He loved being at the tire shop, it was his window to the world, where he eventually got to visit with everyone. He enjoyed getting a feel for how they were getting along in the community and talking politics

Lester was a Christian, having accepted the Lord at Murray Church in 1988.

Lester was preceded by his parents and two brothers, Leonard and Tommy Sanders.

Lester is survived by his wife, Lottie Sanders of the home, his children, Rick and wife, Rita, Ava, MO, Vickie Maltbie and husband, Pat, Clearwater, KS, and Roger and wife, Barbara, Ava, MO, a brother, Loren Sanders, Davenport, IA. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Danny Sanders, Steve Davis, Chris Davis, Michael Maltbie, Crystal Maltbie, Stacey Sanders, and Brian Campbell and two great-grandchildren.


Graveside services for Lester will be Saturday, September 29, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Tabor Cemetery with burial to follow. Visitation will be Saturday, September 29th from 10:00 to 10:30 in the Clinkingbeard Chapel. Officiating will be Pastor Larry Vinson. Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
