Linnie Norene Lantz Martin

Ava, MO

Linnie Norene Martin, 91 years, 4 months, and 20 days old, passed to her Heavenly home on February 14, 2016 at Heart of the Ozarks Healthcare, Ava, MO with her family by her side.

Norene was born September 25, 1924 in Isabella, MO.

On January 27, 1940 Norene and Vaughn Amiel Martin were united in marriage in Hammond, MO in Ozark County and to this union three children were born.

Norene was a member of the First General Baptist Church in Ava, a long time Sunday School teacher and a member of the Ladies Missionary Society. Norene was a retired Puritain Machine Operator with Rawlings Sports Goods in Ava, retiring after 25 years. She also worked later at Clinkingbeards in Ava, McDonald's and Wal-Mart in Ava. She served on the D.O.C.O. Board for Dougals County. She enjoyed quilting, embroidering, growing flowers, and Bible study. Norene and Vaughn loved working together on their farms in Ozark and Douglas County.

Norene was preceded in death by her mother, Bessie, her husband, Vaughn Martin in 1982, one son, Paul Eugene Martin in 2009.

Norene is survived by one daughter, Phyllis Sanders, Springfield, MO and one son, Rick Martin, Rogersville, MO, 11 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren, a sister-in-law, Fern Rhodes, Springfield, MO and many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.


Funeral services for Norene will be Friday, Feb. 19, 2016, 2:00 p.m. in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO with burial in the Ava Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 1:00 p.m. to service time in the funeral home. Officiating will be Rev. Jim Kyle and Bob Haden. Memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Association, 1630 W. Elfindale St., Springfield, MO 65807-1286 or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
