Lois Jean Riley, 87 years old, quietly passed away, with family by her side, to heaven, on August 15, 2020, at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, in Bettendorf, Iowa. Special thanks to her nurse Matt, and entire team at the Hospice House, their care was beyond extraordinary and always heart-felt.
Lois was born on September 25 th , 1932 in Buffalo, IA to Marion and Viola (Penrod) Mallernee.
On December 29, 1948 Lois and Isaac Glen Riley were united in marriage at Davenport, IA. They later moved to the Drury, MO community in Douglas County and lived there for several years after Glen's retirement from The Black Hawk Foundry in Davenport. Lois prided herself on being a Christian and was an active member in the Church of God at Gentryville, MO.
Although she was never able to have her own, Lois enjoyed children and cared not only for her younger siblings but also for other families children. Child Care was one of her passions. Other hobbies included canning, wood-craft painting and volunteering.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Glen in 2009, Brothers Delmar Mallernee, Ricky Mallernee and Sister Sharon Mead.
She is survived by a niece and her husband that cared for her several years, Shellie & David Thalacker of Davenport, IA.
Funeral services for Lois will be Saturday, August 22, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. in the Clinkingbeard Chapel, Ava, MO with burial following in the Blanche Cemetery. Officiating will be Pastor Gary Moore. Memorials can be made to the family.
