Lois Satterfield passed away Wednesday morning, November 15, 2006 at the Gainesville Health Care Center, at the age of 94 years, 7 months, and 23 days. Lois was born on March 22, 1912 in Dilla, Missouri to Charles Elisha and Louella (Green) Haskins. On May 7, 1927 Lois and Claud Satterfield were married in Isabella, Missouri. She was baptized as a young girl and was of the Baptist faith. A long time resident of Ozark County, Lois is survived by her children Jesse Satterfield of Excelsior Springs, Missouri, Charles Satterfield of Wasola, Missouri, Mearl Satterfield of Tecumseh, Missouri, Glenn Satterfield of Independence, Missouri, Hervil Satterfield of Kansas City, Missouri, Sue Campbell of Springfield, Missouri, and Betty Moon of Leesburg, Georgia; 16 grandchildren; 40 great grandchildren; 48 great great grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her parents, husband Claud, daughter Nina Marie, grandson Harold Don Satterfield, sisters Alice Hollingshead and Nora Marie Ledbetter, brothers Walter, Glenn and Herbert Haskins.
Her glass was always half-full. Her favorite quote" We must look on the bright side" no matter how rough things were she would say" We must look on the bright side and trust in the Lord."
Mother loved to write songs and poetry. Her favorite color was gray. She pieced lots of quilts by hand, worked in her garden all summer and enjoyed having her neighbors come to visit.
Lois decided her family needed an extension to the house, so she set out to build a large new kitchen. The boys helped, Mearl, Glenn, and Hervil. It was real nice, but when the first rain came, that roof leaked liked a sieve… Lois's dreams were shattered and it was a tough time. But Lois was soon "looking on the bright side", she started telling people," I got running water now, ever time it rains.
Lois would want her family to "look on the bright side now."
Funeral Services were held Saturday, November 18, 2006 1:00 pm, at Clinkingbeard Funeral Home in Gainesville, Missouri with Ed Smith officiating. Burial at Isabella Cemetery. Pallbearers Jesse Satterfield, Charles Satterfield, Mearl Satterfield, Glenn Satterfield, Hervil Satterfield, and Roger Satterfield.
