LOLA S. (FREEMAN) NEWTON

Lola S. (Freeman) Newton, daughter of Fred and Liddie (Durham) Freeman, was born July 28, 1913 at Lawndale, MO and passed away at her home near Zanoni, MO on September 8, 2008 at the age of 95.

On June 30, 1932, she married Virgil Newton, who preceded her in death on December 23, 2001. To this union three children were born – Velda Wood, Charlotte Bradley, and Alfred Newton.

Lola became a Christian at a very early age.

Mrs. Newton was a home-maker and mother who loved her family and enjoyed keeping a spotless house. She also enjoyed working in her garden and with her flowers. She especially enjoyed having her family all together for special days and holidays. She was a virtuous woman and a very hard worker all of her life.

She is survived by her son Alfred Newton and wife Gaila of Gainesville, MO, daughter Charlotte Bradley of Mountain Home, AR; six grandchildren Phyllis Fisher and husband Paul of Marshfield, MO, Tammy Mitchell and husband Perry of Mountain Home, AR, Tina Killian and husband Larry of Midway, AR, Allison Grinder of St. Louis, MO, Heather Ford and husband James of Springfield, MO, and Aaron Newton of Gainesville, MO; great grandchildren Jennifer King and husband Jarrod of Marshfield, MO, Jeff Fisher of Branson, MO, Chase Amyx and wife Miranda of Cabot, AR, Tiffany Killian of Fayetteville, AR, Ryan Amyx of Springfield, MO, Aaron Mitchell and wife Courtney, Krista Hunter and husband Chris, Tobin Grinder, and Jacob Lawson; great-great grandchildren Jonah King, Julianne King, Jensen King, Mile Fisher, Haley Mitchell, Kiernan Hunter, Hayden Hunter, and Berkley Hunter.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Virgil, one daughter Velda Wood on October 13, 2003, and one grandson Jody Wood on February 14, 1993.

Funeral services will be held at the Smith Chapel Church of Christ on N highway N.E. of Gainesville on Wednesday, September 10, 2008, 10:00 AM with Victor Williams officiating. Interment will follow in the Smith Chapel Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Gainesville.
