Lonnie Allen Combs, 61 years, passed away on August, 3, 2011 at Cox Medical Center South, Springfield, MO. Lonnie was born April 21, 1950 at Bradleyville, Missouri to Richard and Norma (Horner) Combs.


On August 29, 1969 Lonnie and Linda Jennings were married at Linda's parents home in McClurg, MO. They would have celebrated 42 years together this month. To this union two children were born.


Lonnie loved traveling with his family, golfing, hunting & fishing. He loved playing with his grandchildren and his family was the most important thing to him.


Lonnie was a member of the 1968 Championship Bradleyville basketball team. The team was inducted into the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame in 2000. Lonnie entered the United States Army in 1970 and was stationed in Germany. Lonnie founded Southern Construction Company in 1981 and would have celebrated 30 years in business in September. He felt the people at Southern Construction were his extended family.



Lonnie is proceeded in death by his parents, a sister and brother-in-law, Freida and Robert Boyd, and his father-in-law, Lloyd Jennings.


He is survived by his wife Linda of the home, his daughter, Shelly Combs-Lacher and husband, Nathan, St. Louis, MO, son Justin and wife Nikki, Oldfield, MO., three grandchildren, Paitin McKenzie, Seth Rylan, and Lydia Allyn. Also surviving are Mother-in-law, Louise Jennings, brothers' Roy Combs and wife Debbie, Taneyville, MO, and Steve Combs and wife Dee, Bradleyville, MO, a sister Donna Herd, Willow Springs, MO, brother and sister-in-law Randall and Becky Cummings, Brown Branch, MO, a host of nieces and nephews and his Southern Construction family.


Services for Lonnie will be Saturday, Aug. 6, 2011, 10:00 a.m. at the White River Association in Taneyville, MO. Visitation will be Friday from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home Ava, MO. Burial will be at the Patterson Cemetery, Bradleyville, MO with military honors by Ava American Legion #112 & VFW #5993.


In lieu of flowers Memorial Contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society or The Lonnie Combs Scholarship Fund , at Clinkingbeard Funeral Home.
