Lonnie Gene Pool, 83 years, 2 months, and 29 days old, passed to Heaven on April 28, 2016 at Heart of the Ozarks Healthcare, Ava, MO.

Gene was born January 30, 1933 in Drury, MO to George and Maggie (Hicks) Pool.

Gene was a life long resident of the Ava community and Douglas County. He was retired from working 40 years with the Missouri Highway Dept. Gene was a U.S. Army Veteran and had served during the Korean War.

On July 9, 1993 Gene and Rheba Carson Medlock were united in marriage in Ava, MO.

Gene was a Christian. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, picking mushrooms, and watching the St. Louis Cardinals. Gene also loved playing pitch with his family and solitaire.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents, a son, George Pool, a step daughter, Carolyn Medlock, a step son, Jimmy Keith Medlock, three brothers; Glen, Buck and Benny Pool and three sisters; Hazel Bushong, Irene Strong and Midge Berry.


Gene is survived by his wife, Rheba Pool, Ava, MO, four children, Lonnie Jr. Pool, Richards, MO, Richard Pool, Denver, Colorado, Ronnie Pool, Paola, KS, and Sherri Pool, Branson, MO, two step sons, Roger and Bill Johnson both of Ava, MO, four grandchildren, three great grandchildren, eight step grandchildren, 23 step great grandchildren, three sisters; Veda Bushong, Ava, MO, Juanita Kazenske, Colona, IL and Jo Stephens, Ava, MO, many nieces, nephews and a host of relatives and friends.


Funeral services for Gene will be Monday, May 2, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. in the Clinkingbeard Chapel, Ava, MO with burial in the Eaton Cemetery with full military honors by the Troy Herd American Legion Post 112. Visitation will be Sunday, May 1, 2016 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Officiating will be Pastor Max Stephens. Memorials may be made to Eaton Cemetery or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
