Lotus Swearengin
Ava, MO
Lotus Swearengin, Age 86 years 9 months 21 days, went to meet her Lord and Saviour on Nov. 22, 2008. She was born at Pansy, Missouri to Elias and Cassie (Nelson) Stillings.
She was united in marriage to Carl Swearengin of Elkhead, Missouri on Feb. 6, 1940 and to this union was born four children.
They bought their farm in 1941 in the Breedon community where they lived and raised their family. She was a charter member of the Eastern Gate Baptist Church, which she faithfully attended. She enjoyed the Christian fellowship of her church family and loved to hear and sing good gospel songs. Family was very precious to her and she especially enjoyed Christmas and Easter when all the kids and grandkids came home.
She is survived by her children; a son, Roger Swearengin and wife, Irene, of Ava, Missouri; A daughter, Donna Loveland and husband, Jerry, of Ava, Missouri; A daughter, Carolyn Schnieder, of Oldfield, Missouri; and a son-in-law, Bud Hampton and wife, Francis, of Ava Missouri; thirteen grandchildren, forty great-grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren, and one sister-in-law, Emogene Tate, of Moses Lake, Washington, and a host of family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl, a daughter, Bonita Hampton, a son-in-law, Dennis Schnieder, her parents, five sisters, and two brothers.
Visitation will be at Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO, Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2008, 6:30 to 7:30 pm. Services will be at Eastern Gate Baptist Church, Wednesday, Nov. 26th, at 10:00 am. Burial will follow at Stillings Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Eastern Gate Baptist Church or American Cancer Society at the funeral home.
