Louis Breece Peebles, 93 years, 2 months, and 6 days old, passed peacefully to Heaven on October 25, 2014 at home with his family by his side.

Louis was born August 19, 1921 in Alto, NM, to Henry Allen and Lyda (Hicks) Peebles. Louis was a veteran of WWII, joining the Army following the bombing of Pearl Harbor and served the entire duration of the war. He participated in the liberation of Guam and received many medals including The American Campaign Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, WWII Victory Medal, Good Conduct with three Corps,

Louis and Josephine Wright were united in marriage on December 18, 1945 at Ava, MO and to this union three children were born. Louis and Josephine enjoyed 68 years together. Louis missed her and looked forward to being reunited with her.

Louis worked sixty six years on the farm with his wife, Josephine and family. He was a Christian and member of Faith Riders Cowboy Church. Louis will be remembered as a simple hard working man.

Louis was preceded by his parent, his wife, Josephine, three brothers and a sister.


Louis is survived by his children, Mitchell Peebles and wife Mary, Ava, MO, Joanna Matlock and husband Jerry, Cumby, TX, and Glenn Peebles and wife Shuping, Westport, WA, twelve grandchildren, thirty-six great-grandchilren, ten great-great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.


Funeral services for Louis will be Monday, October 27, at 11:00 a.m. in the Clinkingbeard Chapel with burial following in the Goodhope Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by Troy Herd American Legion Post 112. Officiating will be Pastor Gary Riley. Memorials may be made to Faith Riders Cowboy Church in lieu of flowers.
