LOZELL MARY PITCHFORD

Lozell Mary Hamilton Pitchford was born in Tecumseh, MO on August 7, 1922 to Elmer and Gladys (Miller) Hamilton. She passed away at Care Manor Nursing Home in Mountain Home, AR on September 17, 2017 at the age of 95.

She married Doin Pitchford on March 1, 1941 in Ava, MO. To this union was born six children.

Lozell was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She felt richly blessed to be the "help-meet" of a devout preacher of the gospel. She was a great asset to him in his ministry, teaching children and ladies' classes and sharing her gracious hospitality. She loved cooking and serving others in any way she could. At one time, she enjoyed selling Avon.

Lozell grew up in a musical family, playing the guitar and singing for social gatherings as a young girl. She later taught guitar lessons to children after school. As an older woman, she loved gardening and reading and working crossword puzzles.

When Doin retired from fulltime ministry, they moved to her home place near Dawt Mill where her widowed mother lived. She loved growing flowers with her mother and caring for her until she passed away.

Lozell was preceded in death by her husband, Doin; her parents; a son, John Wesley Pitchford and her only sibling, Jaretty Nesbit.

She is survived by a daughter, Kathy and husband Clayton King of Tecumseh, MO; and four sons: Larry and wife Gail, Gary and wife Sandy, all of Galena, MO; David and wife Sandra of Mountain Home, AR; Jim and wife Taime of Emporia, KS; 12 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren (and another one due in October); and 2 great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, September 22, 2017 at the Gainesville Church of Christ, Gainesville, MO with Ken Burton and Halbert Smith officiating. Burial will be in the Ball Cemetery near Dora, MO with Clayton King officiating. Visitation will be Friday morning from 9 a.m. to service time. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to: Doin Pitchford Memorial Scholarship Fund, Crowley's Ridge College, 100 College Drive, Paragould, AR  72450.
