Lula Tabor Lakey

Seymour, Missouri

Lula Easter Tabor Lakey, 94 years, 9 months, 4 days old, passed away on to Heaven on January 24, 2020 at her home with her family by her side.

Lula was born April 20, 1925 in Ava, MO to Lester E. and Dortha (Burris)  Burgin. Lula was the oldest of seven children and accepted responsibility early in life. She worked tirelessly for her family and the Lord. As a loving mother she worked various jobs in the Kansas City area.

On June 24, 1954  Lula and Bennett Tabor were united in marriage at Gainesville, MO and were blessed with five children. Bennett preceded in death in 2003.  Later on May 15, 2004 Lula and Willis Lakey were united in marriage in Ava, MO.

Lula was a Christian and a member of Seymour Freewill Baptist Church. She loved to bake, sew, read and study God's Word. She enjoyed visiting with people. Her enthusiasm and love was always evident. She will be greatly missed but her legacy and love for the Lord lives on.

Lula was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Bennett, three siblings, Lela Hodge, Wayne Burgin, and Lester Burgin.

She is survived by her husband, Willis Lakey, her five children and their spouses, Kenneth & Linda Tabor, Jeff & Debbie Tabor, Twila & Steve Lopez, Rocky & Terri Tabor and Tina & Danny  Coggins, three step children, Mike & Pam Lakey, Leon Lakey, and Charles & Angela Lakey, 17 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren, two sisters, Laverne Walker and Lena Ruth Gass, one brother, Jerry Burgin, and a host of other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services for Lula will be Tuesday, January 28, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. in the Clinkingbeard Chapel, Ava, MO with burial following in the Dyer Cemetery ( E. Hwy 76 to north on U Highway). Visitation will be Tuesday prior to the service from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. service time in the funeral home. Officiating will be Pastor Oren Alcorn and Pastor Derek Terry. Memorials may be made to Gideon's or American Heart Assoc.
