L.V. (Lewis Vernon) Holmes

L.V. Holmes, 96 years, 10 months, and 5 days old, passed away on, August 30, 2022 at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri.
L.V. was born October 25, 1925 in Garvin County, Oklahoma to Thomas Claude and Oma (Lovelace) Holmes.
He was a Christian and attended One Life Church of the Nazarene. He was a lay Pastor for many years at the Dogwood Church of the Nazarene and Seymour Church of the Nazarene.
On July 12, 1945, L.V. and Margaret Garrett were united in marriage in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma. They were blessed with six children. Later on April 18, 2009, L.V. and Selma Jean Letsinger Dunnegan were united in marriage in Marshfield, Missouri.
He enjoyed farming, spending time with his family and attending church and related activities.
L.V. was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Margaret in 2008; second wife, Selma in 2020; son, Larry Holmes in 2015; great grandson, Brett Vaughn Holmes in 2019;great granddaughter Kaydence Elizabeth Holmes in 2009; two sisters, Pauline Hudson and Carolyn Waddle; and eight brothers, J.C., Tommy, Mac Leon "Tony", Dexter, Steve, and three brothers who died in infancy.
L.V. is survived by his children and their spouses, Wayne and Zella Holmes, Bob and Neyda Holmes, Donna Holmes, Dan and Diane Holmes and Jody Holmes; many grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Bette Holmes, Sarah Holmes, and Rosalee Denney; brothers-in law, Hershel Letsinger (Barbara) and Norman Letsinger (Bonnie);daughter-in-law, Barbara Holmes; five siblings, Wilma Wallace, Acey Holmes (Pat), Janie Allen (Si), David Holmes (Carol), and Jim Holmes (Darlene); and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for L.V. will be Saturday, September 10, 2022 at 10:30 A.M. in the Marshfield Church of the Nazarene in Marshfield, Missouri. Visitation will be Saturday, September 10, 2022 from 9:30 A.M. to 10:30 A.M.. Burial will be in the Marshfield City Cemetery in Marshfield, Missouri. Officiating will be Pastor Brian Letsinger. Memorials may be made to The Potter's House, 724 S. National Ave., Springfield, MO 65804.
