Lyle Wayne Smith, 90 years, passed away on May 30, 2010 at St.John's Regional Health Center, Springfield, MO.

Lyle was born May 3, 1920 in Souder, MO to Rudo and Mertie (Bell) Smith.

Lyle was a lifelong resident of the Ava & Souder community. He was a Dairy Farmer, livestock trader, horse trainer and stock dog trainer. He loved working on his farm. On December 24, 1941 Lyle and Virginia Maxine Alsup were united in marriage in Ava, MO and to this union three children were born. Lyle was a longtime member of the Souder Church of Christ. Lyle was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.

Lyle was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Eulah Gulett and infant, Lelah Smith, one brother, Audis Smith and a grandson, Randy Smith.


Lyle is survived by his wife, Virginia Maxine Smith, Ava, MO,three children & their spouses, Carl E.& Vena Smith, Ava, MO, Wanda & Ival Rowe, Springfield, MO and Hearld "Junior" & Cindy Smith, Ava, MO, five grandchildren, June Smith, Juanita Wilkerson, Kim Dixon, Kristi Constantine and Scotty Smith, nine great grandchildren, eight great great grandchildren and other relatives and friends.



Funeral services for Lyle will be Thursday, June 3, 2010, at 10:00 a.m. in the Souder Church of Christ, Wasola, MO in Ozark County with burial in the Souder Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, June 2, 2010 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO. Officiating will be E.J. Hampton. Memorials may be made to Souder Cemetery.
