Marcella Jean Strong, 82 years, passed to heaven on September 16, 2009 at Cox Medical Center South, Springfield, MO.

Marcella was born July 27, 1927 in Pontiac, MO to J. R. and Eve (Mahan) Denton.

On Aug. 18, 1950, Marcella and Don Strong were united in marriage in Kansas City, KS. They celebrated their 59th Wedding Anniversay this past Aug. Marcella lived in Springfield since 1975 moving from Kansas City, MO. She was a hair stylist. She and Don enjoyed antique trading for many years. Marcella also enjoyed cooking and chrocheting. She was a member of the Baptist Temple Church in Springfield, MO. Marcella was proud of her roots in Ozark County and never forgot all of her family and friends. For years, during Hootin & Hollarin, Marcella and Don hosted a breakfast at Vaught's Restaurant.

Marcella was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Marie Hogan.


Marcella is survived by her husband, Don Strong, Springfield, MO, one sister and husband, Juanita & Larence Strong, Springfield, MO, several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.


Funeral services for Marcella will be Monday, September 21, 2009, at 1:00 p.m. in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Gainesville, MO with burial in the Pontiac Cemetery, Pontiac, MO. Visitation will be Monday, September 21, 2009 from Noon to service time in the funeral home. Officiating will be Rev. Bill Dowell. Memorials may be made to the Pontiac Cemetery.
