Marjorie W. Beck Yancik

Gainesville, MO

Marjorie W. Beck Yancik, 92, of Gainesville, MO passed to heaven on August 5, 2011 at Gainesville Healthcare Center. She was born April 21, 1919 in Glenrock, WY to Clarence and Elsie (Silen) Cumpston.

Marjorie and James Beck were united in marriage on May 21, 1938 in Yuma, AZ. They were married for 61 years. Marjorie lived for 40 years in California and 17 years in Oregon prior to moving to Missouri in 1979. She enjoyed reading and working crossword puzzles. Before her health started to decline she also enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, singing with the Ava HoneyBees, the Lutheran Chorus in Oregon, the Mother Singers in California, and church choirs. She also sang with the Sweet Adelines in California. She married Matthew Yancik in 2009 in Gainesville, MO and they spent a wonderful two years together. Marjorie was a Christian. She was a member of the Lutheran Church, but currently attended the Clarkridge Baptist Church with her husband.

Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents Clarence and Elsie Cumpston; her first husband James Beck; one son James Charles Beck; three sisters Marcy Alexander, Ellen Neiberger and Elsie Nix; and her beloved Aunt Lydia Silen who raised her and her three sisters.



Marjorie is survived by her husband Matthew Yancik of the home in Howards Ridge, MO; her five daughters Nancy St. Onge and husband Bob of Bakersfield, MO, Catharine Palm and husband George of Powhatan, VA, Janet Huggins and husband Bud of Lake Point, UT, Virginia Brewer and husband Glenn of North Las Vegas, NV and Robin Higgins and husband Paul of Chesapeake, VA; 18 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; and 6 great-great grandchildren.


Funeral services for Marjorie will be held at 10 am on Wednesday, August 10, 2011 in the Clinkingbeard Chapel, Gainesville, MO. Officiating will be Estel Grigg. Visitation will be on Tuesday evening from 5-7 pm in the funeral home. Burial will be in the Ava Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Clarkridge Baptist Church, Ava Lutheran Church, or to Hopice.
