Marsha Lynn (Herrell) Bratten was born October 18, 1950 in Christopher, Illinois.  She passed away on December 31, 2022 at Cox South in Springfield, Missouri after a short illness.

She was the oldest of two daughters of Raymond and Vada Ruth (Lee) Herrell.  Marsha was a 1968 graduate of DuQuoin High School, and prior to starting college, she held the crown of the DuQuoin State Fair and Miss Hamiltonian.  She was a graduate of VTI Cosmetology School in Southern Illinois, which is where she met and married Thomas Edward Thompson of Chicago which is where her first child, Kelly, was born.  She later returned to DuQuoin and married Bruce Goebel and had their daughter, Kristi Michele.  She later married Bernie Burdel, and in 1995 married Bruce Bratten.

She was the owner of MisSipps Bar for many years.  After retiring and prior to her illness she and Bruce lived in Fort Pierce, Florida.

Marsha loved thrift stores and jewelry, and she knew and loved many people.   She never met a stranger and made friends everywhere she went.

Marsha is survived by her husband of 27 years, Bruce Bratten; sister Betty (Dennis) Cox of Flora, Illinois; niece, Erin(Brad) Nesbitt; son, Kelly (DeAnn) Thompson of Ava, Missouri; daughter, Kristi Lee of Ohio; grandchildren, Kinsey (Nathan) Thompson, Kailey (Matt) Aluisio, Kyle Thompson, Tavin, Braylen, and Bryant Lee.

A celebration of life will be held by the family at a later date.
