Martha Sue Shanks Dean, 85

Funeral services for Martha Sue Shanks Dean, 85, of Gainesville, will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 23, 2021, at Clinkingbeard Funeral Home in Gainesville. Mrs. Dean died Aug. 19 at Ozarks Healthcare in West Plains.

She was born Nov. 19, 1935, in West Plains, the daughter of Hardy and Cecil Luna Shanks. She attended the one-room school at Luna.

On Dec. 20, 1958, she married Tommy Dean at the Church of Christ in Gainesville.

She lived in Ozark County all her life and was a full-time homemaker. She enjoyed gardening, fishing and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Mrs. Dean was a Christian, and she attended the Dawt Church of Christ as long as she was able.

She is survived by her daughter, Karla Hathcock and husband Joe of Gainesville; grandchildren Joey Hathcock and wife Cindy of Spring Texas, and Travis Hathcock and Tracey Hathcock, both of Gainesville; grandchildren Lincoln and Landon Hathcock; many Shanks and Luna cousins; and several other relative and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; four brothers, Oda Shanks, Gordon Shanks, Auburn Shanks and Fay Shanks; and two sisters, Loma Hannaford and Leila Powers.

Burial will be at the Patrick Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made as a love offering to the family and may be left at or mailed to Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, P.O. Box 65, Gainesville, MO 65655.
