Marvin Lee Chance was born August 26, 1941 in Ava, MO. to Doyne and Dessie Farris Chance and passed away at his home in Ava, MO on May 15, 2009 after a short battle with cancer with family and friends by his side.


He is survived by his wife Barbara of the home and two children Sheryl and Mark Chance of Ava, three grandchildren, Travis and Lanny Wells of Willard, and Colton and Todd Chance of Rogersville, also a great grandchild, Clay, his mother Dessie Miller of Ava, two step grandchildren Brandon and Kyle Fultz of Rogersville and a brother Larry and wife Debbie Chance of Ava.

On May 4, 1961, Marvin and Barbara Morisset were united in marriage in Vacaville, CA and to this union two children were born. Marvin worked for Hutchens industries for 35 years and many of those years as a supervisor. He also worked in the fabrication department designing and building robotic welding equipment. Marvin loved building and racing stock cars. He and his son Mark raced at Bolivar and Lebanon for 10 years. Marvin also loved his cattle, fishing and hunting, and being a good neighbor and always willing to lend a helping hand. Marvin was a wonderful husband, father, son, grandfather and friend.

Memorial services for Marvin will be Wednesday, May 20th at 6:30 P.M. at the Faith Rock Church in Ava. Memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice (Hospice Compassus) at the funeral home. Services are being conducted by Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO.
