Squires, MO

Marvin Clifford Mork was born the only son of John and Myrtle Sandvig Mork in Pierpont, South Dakota, on September 21, 1928 and departed this life at his home on December 5, 2009.

Marvin was a Veteran and served his country for 22 1/2 years in the U.S. Army, it was his life. He served during the Korea Conflict & Vietnam War. On June 30, 1952 Marvin and Thelma Hoffman were united in marriage at Forestville, MD, and to this union were blessed with 5 children. The Mork family moved to the Squires area in 1969 raising their children on the farm. He was a life member of the American Legion in Kidder, SD and a member of the Ava United Methodist Church. He loved the out-of-doors and enjoyed spending time fishing.

Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Eloise and an infant son Dwayne.

His survivors include his wife of 57 years Thelma of the home, sons Daniel and wife Carol, of Springfield, MO, David and wife Judy, Sterling, VA, Dennis of Rogersville, MO and daughter, Donna and her husband Dave Reed, St. Charles, MO, 10 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, sisters Marcella Schopp, Bozeman, MT, and Eleanor and her husband Dwayne Johnson, Britton, SD.

Services for Marvin will be Friday, Dec. 11, 2009, 2:00 p.m. at the Ava United Methodist Church, Ava, MO with Rev. Marty Blakey officiating. Interment will follow in the Thornfield Cemetery, Thornfield, MO with full military honors by Ft. Leonard Wood Honors Detail. A visitation will be Friday, Dec. 11th from 1:00 p.m. to service time in the church. Services are being conducted by Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO.
