MARVIN VICTOR NEWTON
Marvin Victor Newton, 86, Pontiac, MO, passed away on November 14, 2010 at his residence. He was born on December 7, 1923 in Oakland, AR, son of Lee and Della (Stafford) Newton.
Marvin was a farmer and a lifelong resident of the Pontiac area. He married Iva Allie Hillhouse on July 23, 1947 and they spent a wonderful 53 years together until her passing in March of 2000. Marvin loved the outdoors. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and being with people. In fact, his son Kenneth said that Dad would probably have had more successful hunting trips if he could have just stopped talking. Marvin loved to visit. He was a laid back, easy going man who never seemed to get too excited about things, but he was up for ANYTHING. All you had to do was call Marvin, and he was ready. He loved to tell stories and could tell them all day long if someone would sit and listen. He was a very kind hearted man who was loved and will be missed by all.
Marvin is survived by one son Kenneth Newton of West Plains, MO; one sister Eunice Wingate of Yakima, WA; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Lee and Della Newton; his wife Iva Allie Newton; three brothers; and one sister.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 17, 2010 at the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Gainesville, MO with Ron Pinckney officiating. Burial will be in the Pontiac Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. to service time at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Pontiac Cemetery or Oakland Cemetery and can be left at the funeral home.
