Mary Iva Bruffett

Ava, MO

Mary Iva Bruffett, 84 years, 3 months, and 17 days old, passed to her Heavenly home on January 27, 2016 at Mercy Hospital, Springfield, MO.

Mary was born October 10, 1931 in Taney County, to Lester and Lona (Solomon) Duckworth.

On October 28, 1948 Mary and Fred Bruffett were united in marriage in Mtn. Home, AR and to this union seven children were born.

Mary was a homemaker and loved her home on Otter Creek at Thornfield. She was a wonderful cook and loved cooking for her family, fried chicken and home made bread were her families favorites! She enjoyed keeping a garden and canning what she produced. She especially enjoyed her grandbabies.

She was a Christian and attended Ava Full Gospel Church for many years and later attended Harvest Projects Revival Center in Mansfield.

Mary was preceded by her parents, her husband, Fred in 1995, two brothers, and son-in-law, Howard Wilson.


Mary is survived by seven children, Judy Wilson, Ava, MO, Sandra Harvill and husband, Gary, Oldfield, MO, Marilyn Dennis and husband, Jerry, Mtn. Grove, MO, Patty Cummins and husband, David, Ava, MO, Donna Luna and husband, Mike, Springfield, MO, Bill Bruffett and wife, Teresa, Ava, MO, and Bob Bruffett and wife, Jeanette, Galena, MO, seventeen grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, A sister, Lena Van Houden, Springfield, MO, and many nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.


Funeral services for Mary will be Saturday, January 30, 2016, at 2:00 p.m. in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO with burial in the Ava Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00 until service time in the funeral home. Officiating will be Pastor Butch McCleary. Memorials may be made to Ava Victory Academy.
