Mary Eaves

Ava, Missouri

Mary Evelyn Eaves, 86 years, 5 months, and 1 day old, passed peacefully to Heaven on June 2, 2022 at Springfield Villa in Springfield, Missouri.

Mary was born January 1, 1936 in Greene County in Walnut Grove, MO to Cecil and Rosa (Yocum) Hicks. She was the first of 10 children.

Mary and Leon Eaves were united in marriage at Ash Grove, MO on September 7, 1951. Together they had seven children.

Mary was a Christian and a member of  New Hope Freewill Baptist Church in Ava. She retired from Hagales Garment Factory in Ava after working there for 20 years. She enjoyed life greatly when worshipping in church or having her children and grandchildren in her home.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Leon; two children, Danny Eaves and infant daughter, Rosemary; grandson Kasey Eaves; two brothers, Dale and Lawrence Hicks; two sisters, Joanne Parnell and Shirley Tummons.

Mary is survived by her children and their spouses, Kenny and Pam Eaves of Ava, Melinda and James Hess of Harlingen, TX, Phillip and Brenda Eaves of Diggins, MO, Lonnie and Jennifer Eaves of Kirbeyville, MO and Scottie and Shanna Eaves of Ava; 18 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren; three brothers and their spouses, Larry and Fran Hicks of CA, Randy and Rhonda Hicks of Springfield, MO and Rick and Kathie Hicks of Springfield, MO; two sisters, Patsy and Tony Thompson of Tennessee and Rosalee Jones of Arkansas and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Mary will be Wednesday, June 8, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. in the Clinkingbeard Chapel, Ava, MO with burial following in the Ava Cemetery.  Visitation will be prior to the service on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. to service time. Officiating will be will be Rev. Lyle Wright and Rev. Raymond Haden. Memorials may be made to Gideon's International or St. Croix Hospice of Springfield, MO.
