Mary Elizabeth Melton the daughter of Walter Bullard and Emma May Pooler was born May 12, 1917 in Independence, Missouri and departed this life April 18, 2007 at the age of 89 years 11 months and 6 days.

Mary was a resident of the Ava area since 1980 moving here from Inglewood, California. Mary and Charles Arthur Melton were united in marriage on June 6, 1939 in Ava, Missouri. Mr. Melton preceded Mary in death on Feb.4, 2002. Mary was a homemaker and a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Also preceding Mary in death were her parents, and one sister, Eleanor Walters. Mary is survived by six children, Charles "Chuck" Melton Jr., Ava, MO, Dennis W. Melton, state of Georgia, Mary Beth Melton, Reading, Mass, Patricia Wenke, state of CA, David Melton, state of CA, James Melton, state of CA, many grandchildren and great grandchildren, one sister, Peggy Tucker, Pleasant Hill, MO, as well as a honorary son, Don Boden and a host of other relatives and friends.

Graveside service will be 1:00 P. M. Sat. April 21, 2007 in the Mound Grove Cemetery, Independence, MO with Elder Kenneth Tucker officiating. Visitation will be Friday 6:00 P.M. in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO.
