Funeral services for Mason Odin Morpeth, 25, of Thornfield, will be held at noon, Friday, June 16, 2023, at Mammoth Assembly of God Church, south of Gainesville. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to service time at the church. Anyone wishing to pay respects may also stop by Clinkingbeard Funeral Home in Gainesville from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, June 15. Burial with full military honors will be held in the Thornfield Cemetery following services on Friday. He died June 8.

Mason was born Oct. 6, 1997 in Springfield. He grew up in Thornfield where he attended school until 8th grade. He started his freshman year at Gainesville High School where he and wife Amber Scott's love story began. They dated all through junior high and high school, and in October of 2016, he proposed to the love of his life.

In December 2016, after high school graduation, Mason joined the United States Marine Corps. He and Amber were married on March 10, 2017 while he was home on leave after basic training.

Soon after their wedding, Mason was stationed in Jacksonville, North Carolina, where the couple began their new life together. They lived there until he finished his four-year service to his country.

In October 2020, the two moved back home to Thornfield where they bought a home. Mason went to school for welding in 2021 and started his career working for Cole Suter Fencing and Welding. He also worked for HRI Incorporated and Madison Industrial.
On July 8, 2022, Mason and Amber welcomed their daughter Evelyn Grace Morpeth into this world.
Mason enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family and friends. He loved being outdoors and tending to his birds. Mason was a jack-of-all-trades and could do anything he set his mind to. He never met a stranger and was loved by all who knew him. He always had a smile on his face, and in everything he did, he gave 110 percent.

In 2021, he gave his heart to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and with each day he strived to be a witness and testimony for Jesus. Mason was a friend to everyone, and although he was as strong as steel he had a heart soft as butter. He was the most kind hearted person. Mason loved and adored his wife Amber and their daughter Evelyn. Everything he did was to make a better life for them.

He is survived by his wife Amber Scott Morpeth and their daughter Evelyn Morpeth of the family home in Thornfield; parents Bill and Cassie Morpeth of Thornfield; father and mother-in-law David and Sherri Scott of Gainesville; brother Elijah Morpeth and wife Shianne of Theodosia; brother Joey Niemeier and wife Kasandra of Alliance, Nebraska; brother Winston Scott and wife Rebecca of Thornfield; sister Randi Haus-Clarke of Springfield, sister Jesse Newcomb and husband Kenneth of Springfield, sister Shaneesa Hopper and husband Brent of Gainesville, sister Destiny Vaughan and husband Joe of Bakersfield; aunt Kathleen Freeman; also several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother Judith Morpeth; grandfather Lee Darwin Freeman (whose wife Sally is still living); great grandmother Alice Ankarberg; great grandfather Carl Ankarberg and uncle Ed Morpeth.
