Mattie A. (Sally) Wright, 75 years, passed to heaven on May 6, 2010 at Heart of the Ozarks Healthcare, Ava, MO with her family by her side.

Sally was born January 3, 1935 in Loxberg, AR to Ernest and Verna (Dellinger) Ward.

Sally was a resident of the Ava community for several years moving from California. On April 10, 1955 Sally and Therman Carter Sr. were united in marriage and to this union three sons were born. He preceded in death as the result of an auto accident. On December 7, 1962 Sally and Charles Elmo Wright were united in marriage in Oak Grove, MO. She was a Christian and a member of the First General Baptist Church of Ava. She also was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans Auxillary. She enjoyed hosting alongwith her husband work related events. Sally enjoyed traveling, reading, knitting, crafts, flowers and being with her family.

Sally was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Therman Carter, Sr., two brothers, Roy & William Ward, one sister, Anna Louise Stanford and a half brother, Earl Ward.


Sally is survived by her husband, Charles E. Wright, Ava, MO, three sons, Therman A. Carter & wife, Casi, Green River, WY, Earnie Lee Carter & wife, Linda, Ridgecrest, CA and Michael Carter & wife, Marsha, Ava, MO, three grandchildren, several great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.



Funeral services for Sally will be Tuesday, May 11, 2010, at 10:00 a.m. in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO with burial in the Ava Cemetery. Officiating will be Rev. Robert Roberts. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
