Obituary

MEARL TILMAN SATTERFIELD

Funeral services for Mearl Tilman Satterfield, 85, of Sparta, MO, former long-time resident of Ozark County, will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 11, 2018, at the Lilly Ridge General Baptist Church in Gainesville, MO. Visitation will be held Monday evening, September 10, from 6-8 p.m. at the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Gainesville, MO.

Mr. Satterfield passed away September 5, 2018, at the Missouri Veterans Home in Mt. Vernon, MO, where he had been a resident for two years. He was born December 16, 1932, in Isabella, MO, the son of Claud and Lois (Haskins) Satterfield. On December 29, 1956, he was united in marriage to Beulah (Friend) in Springfield, MO.

He joined the Army in 1953 and served in the Korean Conflict until 1955, stationed in Louisiana and Kansas. In 1959, he and Beulah moved to the Tecumseh area, where he was an electrician/plumber by trade. He was a well-known gardener, raising several acres of sweet corn each year. He also raised beef cattle on their farm and was very active at Lilly Ridge General Baptist Church for many years.

Mearl was an avid fisherman, participating in tournaments, with many trophies to show for his efforts. He loved stream/creek fishing and spent many hours on the banks of North Fork River.

He is survived by his wife of almost 63 years, Beulah, of Sparta, MO; two children, Karen Livingston and Roger Satterfield. Karen and her husband, Doug, have one son, Austin, all of Springfield, MO. Roger and his wife, Kimberly (Arnall), have two daughters, Michaela and Katelyn, all of Oldfield, MO. Mearl is also survived by six siblings: Jesse Satterfield, Excelsior Springs, MO; Charles Satterfield of Wasola, MO; Betty Moon of Leesburg, GA; Glen Satterfield of Grain Valley, MO; Hervil Satterfield of Adrian, MO; and Willa Sue Campbell of Springfield, MO.

He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister, Nina Marie.

Burial will be in the Lilly Ridge Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to the Lilly Ridge General Baptist Church. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Gainesville, MO.
