Melba O. Wilson, Ava, Missouri

Melba O.Wilson, 89 years, 10 months, 19 days old, passed away on October 16, 2017 at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, MO with her family by her side.

Melba was born November 11, 1927 at her home in the Smallett Community to Elmer and Lillian (Thompson) Nash.

She worked in Kansas City at the National Bellas Catalogue Company and later at the Douglas County Health Dept. and the Senior Citizen center in Ava.

Melba married Carl Clements and to this union seven childen were born.

Melba later married Joe Wilson.

Melba was a Christian and a homemaker, she and her family attended Frye and Springcreek Churches. She loved living on her family farm and tending to her flowers and garden. Melba enjoyed attending singings, antiquing, and giving shelter to stray animals. She also enjoyed cooking for her family and spending time outdoors.

Melba loved sharing stories about her childhood with her life long friend, Rachel, who nicknamed her Mink.

Melba was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Joe in 2007, an infant daughter, Caroline Sue, and a sister, Vernita Loftis.

She is survived by her companion, John Goss, her children, and their spouses, Harlin Clements & Dana, Mosby, MO, Gene Clements & Clare, Independance, MO, Sue Biggs & Bruce, Pleasant Valley, MO, Sharon Strong & Bob Chronister, Ava, MO, Danny Clements & Kim and Larry Clements & Debbie, all of Ava,seventeen grandchildren, twentysix great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews and a host of other family and friends.

Graveside services for Melba will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 19, 2017 in the Springcreek cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, October, 19th from 12:30 to 1:30 in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home Chapel, Ava. Burial will be in the Springcreek cemetery. Officiating will be Pastor John Williams Jr. Memorials may be made to Springcreek cemetery.
