Ava, Missouri
Michael William McAllister, 66 years, 10 months, 13 days old, passed away on April 18, 2026, at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri with his family by his side.
On June 5, 1959, Mike was born in Amarillo, Texas, to James and Louise (Broughton) McAllister. He grew up with his brothers and sister living in various areas due to their father’s military career.
Mike graduated from Peoria High School in Peoria, AZ in 1977. He continued his education and received his Masters Degree in Education from the college he attended in California.
He started his career as a public school teacher in Yuma, Arizona, and then became a principal, which he loved. He eventually became a superintendent in California. After he retired, he made the move to Ava, Missouri, where his family resides.
Mike purchased some cattle and enjoyed taking care of them. He enjoyed gardening and being in the outdoors. In addition, he loved going to Silver Dollar City in Branson, Missouri, with his niece, Tiffany. They were “roller coaster buddies!” Mike loved going to museums and music shows with Dale Davis in Branson. His thirst for learning never stopped. He also was talented in fixing things.
Mike became a Christian at an early age.
He was preceded in death by his father, James “Jim” McAllister; and his grandparents, Francis and Temple O’Clair.
He is survived by his mother, Louise; his children, Sarah, Matthew, Joshua, and Victoria McAllister; his siblings, Steve (Kris) McAllister, James “Jim” McAllister, Jr, and Cheryl (Greg) Davis; nieces and nephews, Carrie McAllister, Bryan McAllister, Ashley (Levi) Morpeth, Brittany (Chase) Dixon, Tiffany Davis, and Kelsey (William) Mork; great nieces and great nephews, Braxton, Shelby, Tesla, Barrett, Diem, Camdyn, Emory, and Beckett, and two more on-the-way; extended family and friends.
Graveside services for Mike will be Friday, May 8, 2026 at 10:00 A.M. in Ava Cemetery, Missouri. Officiating will be Pastor Brian Letsinger. Services are being conducted by Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, Missouri.
