Mickey Paul Wharton

Mickey Wharton, 65 years and 15 days old, passed away on May 7, 2018 in Ava, MO.

Mickey was born April 22, 1953 to Dale and Reta (Stephens) Wharton.

Mickey graduated from high school in Independence, MO, where he lived his early life. Mickey and  Debra VanGundy  were united in marriage in 1974 and to this union three children were born. After several years of marriage, the couple moved to southwest Missouri. Later in life he fell in love and shared his home with Mary Nash whom he cared for deeply.

He loved his grandchildren with all his heart, and enjoyed spending time with them and all his family. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, as well as riding his Harley. He was a great storyteller with a fantastic memory, and had a story or joke always. He will be missed by all that knew him.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Reta, two brothers, Jerry and Steve Wharton, and Mary Nash.

Mickey is survived by his father, Dale Wharton of Independence, MO, two sons, Jason Wharton and wife Tina of Trimble, MO and Jerid Wharton of Ava, a daughter, Savana Johnson and husband David of Liberty, MO, a sister, Teresa Herbst and husband Bill of Dauphin Island, AL, seven grandchildren, Whitney, Emma, Sarah, Hailey, Maddie, Wyatt, and Liviya, one great grandchild, Dawson, and many other neices, nephews, and family and friends.

Funeral services for Mickey will be at Clinkingbeard Funeral Home,  Ava, MO, on Saturday May 12, 2018 at 2:00 P.M. with visitation starting at 1:00 P.M.. Officiating will be Pastor Robert Roberts and Elder David Kelsey.
