Mildred J. Mackey, 90 years, 1 month, and 27 days old, passed to Heaven on January 2, 2014 at Heart of the Ozarks Healthcare, Ava, MO.
Mildred was born November 6, 1923 in Laredo, TX to Thomas Wesley and Maria (de la Luz Ramirez) Duncan.
On March 15, 1945 Mildred and Lonzo ROY Mackey were united in marriage in San Antonio, TX and to this union two daughters were born.
Mildred was a Veteran and served in the U.S. Army Air Corp.
Mildred was retired from working at the Forestry office in Ava. She had also worked at Rawlings Sporting Goods, Spaldings and Emerson Electric
in Ava. And, had worked as a dental technician at one time.
She was a Christian and when able, she attended the Ava General Baptist Church. Mildred enjoyed gardening and especially her flowers. Most important to her was spending time with her girls and her grandchildren.
Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Roy in 1975 and a grandson, Mark Owens.
Mildred is survived by two daughters and their spouses; Sandy and Clyde Irby and Vicky and Larry Owens all of Ava, MO, five grandchildren; Buddy and Bryan Irby, Tina Bruffett, Ashley Owens-Wilson, and Luke Owens, twelve great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren, three sisters; Rosemary Abbott, Houston, TX, Ida Temple, Lufkin, TX and Anita Saucedo, Allen, TX and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Mildred will be Sat. January 4, 2014, 2:00 p.m. in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO with burial in the Ava Cemetery with military honors by Ava American Legion Post #112. Visitation will be SAT. from 1:00 p.m. to service time in the funeral home. Officiating will be Pastor Oren Alcorn and Rev. Freeda Holt. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society.
