NADINE JOHNSON

Eddith Nadine (Taylor) Johnson, 97, of Gainesville, MO passed away October 8, 2020 at her residence. She was born March 16, 1923 in Oakland, AR to Lawrence and Zona (Lantz) Taylor.

Nadine went to school and lived at Oakland until age 18. She then came to Gainesville to find work, where she met and married Amos Johnson in 1944. They lived and farmed at Isabella, MO for a short time before moving to California, then Wichita, KS, before settling in Springfield, MO. Nadine worked for almost 26 years at Dayco (now Carlisle) manufacturing before retiring and moving back to Gainesville in 1987.

She joined the Liberty General Baptist Church in Isabella and attended there many yeas helping sing those old church songs that brought such joy to her heart. Nadine always enjoyed reading her bible. She also enjoyed quilting. She was an excellent seamstress and made many homemade quilts for family. She said some of the happiest times of her life was quilting with friends at the senior center.

Nadine is survived by her niece Sherri Wilson and husband Rod of Gainesville, MO; Dianne Cockrum Ellison and husband Ron of Howards Ridge, MO; three nephews Lane Taylor, Shawn Taylor and Darvin Taylor; great nieces Mindi Lawson and Monty; Makinzi Taylor; Ellie Cockrum, and Marlana; great nephews Dustin Hudson and Renee, Kase Wilson, Kyle Wilson, Sheldon Taylor, Brandon Taylor, Matthew Taylor, Cody Taylor, Clint Taylor, Josh Cockrum; special family Bill and Lana Cockrum; and special care givers Marsha Hebert and Martha Webb.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Amos; brother Chester Taylor; sister Gertrude Cockrum; 3 infant sisters; and one nephew Craig Cockrum.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 13, 2020 in the Isabella Cemetery with Jimmy Kyle officiating. Nadine will lie in state Monday, October 12, 2020 from Noon to 4:00 p.m. and again Tuesday, October 13 th from 9:00 a.m. to Noon in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home chapel, Gainesville, MO. The family asks that memorial contributions be made to Isabella Cemetery. Arrangements are being conducted by Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Gainesville, MO.
