Nellie Mabel Turner

Nellie Mabel Turner, 86 years, passed to heaven on May 16, 2013 at Heart of the Ozarks Healthcare, Ava, MO.

Nellie was born October 22, 1926 in Douglas County, MO to Bernie and Josie (Hatfield) Miller.

Nellie was a lifelong resident of Douglas County.
In 1945 Nellie and Johnny Eugene Turner were united in marriage in Ava, MO and to this union two daughters were born.

Nellie was a homemaker. She was a Christian and had attended local churches. She enjoyed gardening, canning, flowers, cooking, picking strawberries and blackberries. Her love and joy was being with all her family and especially the grandchildren.

Nellie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, John Eugene Turner, grandson, Michael Merritt, three brothers, Russell, Joe and Tommy Miller, two sisters, Mary Ann Coonce and Nada Potter, three sisters-in-law, Florence Miller and Ruby Miller and Norma Jean Miller.


Nellie is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Glenda & Jerry Miller, and Evelyn & Acie Jr.(Butch) Merritt all of Ava, MO, six
grandchildren and their spouses, Terry & Sherry Miller, Sharon & Buzz Woods, Gary Miller, Tammie & Terry McFarlin, Jonathan & Deanna Merritt and Stacy & Mindy Merritt, 18 great grandchildren, 21 great great grandchildren, three brothers, Johnny Miller, Jack and Mike Miller, two sisters & husbands, Betty & Ernie Scott and Rosie & Alvin Miller, two sisters-in-law, Golda Miller and Wanda Sue Miller, one brother-in-law, Woodrow Coonce, many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.


Memorials may be made to American Heart Association, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Ronald McDonald House.


Funeral services for Nellie will be Monday, May 20, 2013, at 10:00 a.m. in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO with burial in the Dobbs Cemetery, Ava, MO. Visitation will be Sunday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Officiating will be Rev. Robert Grisham.
