Nettie Sue Hogan was born September 27th, 1945 to the wonderful parents Efton and Juanita (Murrill) Friend. She was born in Gainesville, MO, "Pine Holler" to be exact. She was called home to heaven at the Gainesville Health Care Center in November 17, 2020 at the age of 75.
Nettie Sue came from a large family, 10 brothers and sisters then herself. Seven of them and her parents proceed her in death, Betty Garfit, OJ Friend, Rebecca "Becky" Boyd, Baby Eva, Benny Friend, Lawrence Friend, and Mary Bates. She is survived by two brothers and one sister, George Friend and Wife Sue, Charles Friend and Wilma Pendergrass.
Nettie Sue is also survived by her daughter Mary Alice Stephens and three grandchildren Johnathon Whisnant and his two daughters Erika Whisnant and Caitlyn Whisnant, Summer Dawn Stephens and her son Kenneth James Berry, Ashely Renee Lawson and her four children, Shyanna Scroggins, Rachel Scroggins, Jayce Schimkus, Isabella. She is also survived by her nephew Caitlin Ryan Friend, which she raised like her own. Nettie Sue also known as "Nan" "Granny" "Ethel" has many nieces and nephews and cousins that all love her!!!
Some where around 1975 she fell in love with Bob Hogan who she married on September 2 1989.
She loved going on the truck with him threw his years of being a driver. She devoted her life to helping others with 20 + years of being a CNA and many more for just who ever needed it. She was a great gardener and loved working outside and then coming in and making her family the best meal they have ever eaten from Thanksgiving day dinner that could have feed three army's to Christmas candy that had all the kids we new begging to come to our house. We will always cherish the times she would pick us up when we fell or how she could make shivers go up our spine from the sound of our middle name because thats when the race was on. She touched so many life's with her time here and she well be missed dearly.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 24, 2020 at the Gaulding Cemetery near Nottinghill, MO. Visitation will be Monday evening, November 23, 2020 from 5-7 p.m. in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home chapel, Gainesville, MO. The family asks for memorial contributions to help with funeral expenses. Arrangements are being conducted by Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Gainesville, MO.
