Neva Pauline Barner

Neva Pauline Barner, 98 years, 6 months, and 18 days old, passed to Heaven on September 8, 2015 at Heart of the Ozarks Healthcare.

Pauline was born February 21, 1917 in Miami, OK, to Illey and Nellie (Taffner) Tunnell.

Pauline was mostly a homemaker but had worked with her husband Richard at the Post Office in Hammond, MO. She enjoyed sewing, reading the Bible, and cooking. Even though her eyesight was failing, she sewed continuously until recently. She also made many quilts in her past, and her fried chicken was something special, but her strong coffee, made the old fashioned way with a percolator, will not be missed as much. Neva was a very tough lady who took her faith very serious. She was a special person and will be missed by all that knew her.

She was a Christian and attended the Gentry Church.

Pauline and Richard Barner were united in marriage on April 1, 1939 in Miami, OK.

Pauline was preceded by her parents, her husband Richard in 1981, her three children, Bobby Kay Priddy, Jimmy Barner, and Billie Jo Barner, three step children, LAvaugn Riley, Coleman Barner and Bonnie Potter, and siblings, Marvin, Harold, Robert and Mary Lou.


Pauline is survived by seven nieces, Christine Rawlins, Ava, MO, Peggy Mareck, TX, Marta Highly, OK, Sherry Rollins, OK, Susan of TX, Roberta Rodgers, OH, Rebecca Baker, OH, six nephews, Marvin Tunnell, Lamar, MO, Johnny Tunnell, OK, James Tunnell, OH, Allen Tunnell, OH, Dale Tunnell, OH, Keith Armstrong, OK, a special cousin, Lois Armstrong, OK, and other family and friends who will miss her.


Funeral services for Pauline will be Saturday, September 12th, at 1:00 p.m. in the Clinkingbeard Chapel, with burial in the Thornfield Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. to service time in the funeral home. Officiating will be Jr. Hall. Memorials may be made to the Ava Senior Citizens Center or Thornfield Cemetery.
