Nora M. Deatherage Hunsaker

Mansfield, MO

Nora Margaret Deatherage Hunsaker, 91 years, 8 months, and 10 days old, passed away on January 14, 2016 at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, MO with her children by her side.

Nora was born May 4, 1924 in Douglas County, MO to Lock and Ellie (Hall) Miller.

Nora was a resident of Mansfield for six years moving from Ava, MO. On March 25, 1940, Nora and Bernard Deatherage were united in marriage in Douglas County, MO and to this union five children were born. Bernard preceded in death.

Nora loved life and was a very outgoing person. She loved playing her guitar and singing and wrote several songs. She loved cooking and taking food to people. Nora also enjoyed making quilts and crocheting. She was "Grandma" to many who knew and loved her. She loved her church family.

Nora was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Bernard Deatherage in 2000, one son, Bernard Noah Deatherage, one grandson, Dean Deatherage, one infant grandson, one great grandson, Tony Lee Cornelius, three brothers, Melvin, George and Mack Miller, and two sisters, Violet Morris and Rozella McCullough.

Nora is survived by her children, son, Vern Deatherage and wife, Kathleen, Ava, MO, three daughters and their spouses, Margaret & Delmar Rosseau, Ava, MO, Violet & Johnnie Flair, Springfield, MO, Helen & Earnie Cook, Mansfield, MO and Carlos Clarke, Wichita, KS, 14 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, 24 great great grandchildren, and a special and faithful companion, Lee Williams.


Graveside memorial services for Nora will be Saturday, January 23, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. in the Dyer Cemetery (U Highway), Ava, MO. Memorials may be made to the Donor's Choice of Charity. Officiating will be Rev. Earnie Cook. Services are being conducted by Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO.
