Norma Eileen Corpening

Ava, Missouri

Norma Eileen Corpening, 76 years,  8 months, and 14 days old, passed away on May 12, 2025, at Heart of the Ozarks Healthcare Center, in Ava, Missouri.

On August 28, 1948, Norma was born in Kansas City, Missouri, to Melvin "Gene" and Helen (Maggard) Wantland. She had two brothers, Sherman and Michael.

After graduating high school in 1967, Norma entered the work force.  She worked as a waitress  and a laborer at Hagales in Ava.  Norma also worked at Silver Dollar City in Branson, Missouri, and loved it.

Norma and Neal Corpening were united in marriage in 1991, in Independence, Kansas.  Although they divorced seventeen years later, they maintained a good relationship.

She was raised in the Baptist faith and attended Ava General Baptist Church.  Norma also attended a Baptist church in the country.  She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and dancing.  She was kind hearted and had a good sense of humor.  Norma will be missed by all who knew her.

Norma was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Helen; her ex-husband, Neal Corpening.

Norma is survived by her nieces, Michele Ann and Melinda Marie; great nephews, Graham, Gage, and Michael Eugene; close friend, Karen Brown.

Cremation services for Norma are being conducted by Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, in Ava Missouri, per Norma's request.
