Norma Lou Denney, daughter of Kenneth and Wilma (Davis) Flynn, was born on September 17, 1932 in Waterloo, Nebraska and departed this life on April 14, 2013 at the age of 80 years.
Norma lived most of her life in Douglas County and was a 1950 graduate of Ava High School. Norma and Owen E. Denney were united in marriage on June 24, 1950. They were blessed with the birth of three children. Together they loved living on the family farm and together they marveled at the renewal of life that they were able to witness every year. Norma was employed for 32 years with the Rawlings factory that was in operation in Ava. She retired from that employment in 1992 and enjoyed spending time with her growing family and with friends. She loved the simple things in life and friends were always welcome at her home.
Norma was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. She is survived by her sister, Nancy Breshears, Ramona Oklahoma, brother in law Loren Denney of Springfield, Missouri, her uncle, Edwin Hailey of Ava, Missouri, her son, Charles Denney of Lake Wales, Florida, and daughters Carol Mork of Springfield, Missouri and Beverly Williams of Sulphur, Oklahoma. Norma was also the proud Grandmother to twelve grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild on the way. She loved each of her children and grandchildren dearly and was happiest when she was able to spend time with them. In addition to several nieces and nephews, she also leaves behind two special neighbors, Tim and Peggy, who were such good friends to both her and Owen and whose kindness she often spoke of.
Norma was a kind and gentle soul who was loved by her family and friends. She leaves behind lasting memories that her family will always hold near to their hearts.
Visitation will be on Sunday, April 21, 1013 from 4 to 5 p.m. in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO. Memorials may be made to the Denney Cemetery. Following cremation, interment will be at the Denney Cemetery at a later date.
