Obituary

Norman Edward Alcorn, 93 years, 5 months, and 26 days old, passed to Heaven on December 8, 2014 at his home with his family by his side.



Norman was born in the Black Oak Community on June 12, 1921 to James Edgar and Sarah Jane (Willard).

Norman was an auxiliary deputy during Leonard Sanders term as Sheriff. Norman was a master gardener, he enjoyed fishing, hunting and visiting with friends at the sale barn.

He was a Christian and a member of the Ava General Baptist Church.

Norman and Ruby Hodge were united in marriage on November 4, 1939 at the Methodist Church Parsonage. They were blessed with five children. Norman and Ruby celebrated 75 years of marriage together.

Norman was preceded by his parents, and one brother, Oren C. Alcorn.


Norman is survived by his wife, Ruby of the home, five children, James and MaeDonna Alcorn, Norma and Leonard Thompson, Paul and Sheila Alcorn, Oren and Donna Alcorn, Helen and Terry Hoogendoorn, 14 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren and 21 great-great grandchildren, many more family and friends.


Funeral services for Norman will be Friday, December 12, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. in the Clinkingbeard Chapel with burial in the Fannon Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. till service time in the chapel. Officiating will be Oren Alcorn and Jeff Alcorn . Memorials may be made to Gideons or the Ava General Baptist Memorial Fund.
