NORMAN HARTLEY

Norman Leon Hartley passed away Wednesday, October 3, 2007 at Baxter Regional Medical Center in Mountain Home, Arkansas. He was born November 18, 1941, in Seattle, Washington, the son of Walter and Mary (English) Hartley. He and Karen Sue Dalton were married September 26, 1980 in Yakima, Washington.
After graduating from high school, he joined the Merchant Marines and sailed for seven years during the Vietnam War. He then began his career as a heavy equipment operator in construction. He moved to Gainesville in 1994. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, reading, woodworking, and sharing a good joke with friends.
Norman is survived by his wife, Karen; one son, Phillip Hartley of Springfield; one daughter, Rebecca Hartley Long of Memphis, Tenn.; three grandchildren; two brothers, Walter Hartley Jr. of Kodiak, Alaska, and John Hartley of California; one sister, Mary Fewel of Port Orchard, Washington; and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by one son; one sister; and his parents.
