Onas Gunter, 71 years, passed away on May 12, 2013 at Cox Medical Center South, Springfield, MO.

Onas was born August 11, 1941 in Brixey, MO (Ozark County) to Ellis "Dude" and Nora Jane (Brikey) Gunter.

Onas was a lifelong resident of Douglas and Ozark County. He was a Logger and worked independently for several years. He was a hard worker and loved working. The only day he didn't work was on Sundays. A good friend quoted, "Onas was the finest man that he had ever known. And that Onas would always help anybody in need." He was a true friend and neighbor.

Onas was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Freda Mae Rowe.


Onas is survived by three brothers, Richard Gunter, Ava, MO, Carl Edward "Buck" Gunter and Bobby Lee Gunter, a sister, Christine (Gunter), friend and neighbor, Lloyd Tate, Ava, MO, and other family and friends.


Graveside services for Onas will be Wed., May 15, 2013, 2:00 p.m. at the Souder Cemetery, Wasola, MO with E. J. Hampton officiating.
