Opal Francis Black, 83 years, passed away on February 17, 2013 at Rocky Ridge Manor, Mansfield, MO.
Opal was born September 21, 1929 in Hope, AR to Dock Monroe and Clara (Barber) Burns.
Opal was a resident of the Norwood community since 1999 moving from Florida. She was a retired Foreman/Supervisor for over 30 years for a Electrical Mechanical Research Co. in Sarasota, FL.
In 1944 Opal and Jasper Thomas Black, Sr. were united in marriage in Arkansas and to this union four children were born. Opal was a Christian and a member of the First Baptist Church. She enjoyed fishing, cooking and camping with her family.
Opal was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Jasper Thomas Black, Sr., a son, Jerry Paul Black.
Opal is survived by four children, William Black, Florida, Jasper "Jack" Black Jr. & wife, Wanda and Opal Marie Baughn all of Norwood, MO and Donnie Black & wife, Peggy, Bradenton, Florida, many grandchildren,numerous great grandchildren, one sister, Marie Womack, Strong, AR and a host of other relatives and friends.
Graveside services for Opal will be Tuesday, 11:00 a.m., Feb. 19, 2013 at the Denlow Cemetery, Norwood, MO. Officiating will be Pastor Oren Alcorn. Memorials may be made to Denlow Cemetery.
