Opal Waneta Blackman, 86 years, passed away on February 03, 2013 at Cox Medical Center South, Springfield, MO.
Waneta was born January 23, 1927 in Hastings, Iowa to Lane and Ina (Grammer) Morse.
On July 14, 1945 Waneta and Elmer Haney were united in marriage. With this union one daughter, Linda was born. After Elmer's death, she married Harold "Blackie" Blackman on May 13, 1972.
Waneta was a resident of the Ava community for 37 years moving from Malvern, Iowa. She was the Plainview School Cook for many years. She also cooked and cared for the elderly in the Ava area.
Waneta was a member of the Happy Home Church in Ava, MO. She loved cooking and spending time with all of her family and friends.
Waneta was preceded in death by her parents, Lane and Ina (Grammer) Morse, her husband, Elmer Haney and also husband, Harold "Blackie" Blackman, two sisters, Leatta Fleming and Bessie Cox, one brother, Raymond Morse, one step-daughter, Edith Schnoor and a long time friend, Leota Erdahl.
Waneta is survived by her sister, Ina Winters, her daughter & fiance, Linda Myers & Jerry Hall, two granddaughters & spouses, Christina & Bill McSwain and Amanda & Mike Lumley, two great grandchildren, Brittney & Kelsey Lumley, two step daughters, Grace Blackman and Bev Hall, four step grandchildren, 14 step great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
A Visitation for Waneta will be held Tuesday, February 5, 2013, from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO. A visitation will also be held Thursday, February 7, 2013 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Loess Hills Funeral Home, Malvern, Iowa. Cremation will be conducted by the Loess Hills Funeral Home.
