Opal Lee Southards, 83 years passed away on December 19, 2012 at her home with her family by her side.

Opal was born October 16, 1929 in Ava, MO to David Elza and Dovie (Tate) Ludwig. She graduated from Ava High School.

Opal was a resident of Bradleyville for 62 years. She was a Homemaker. On November 22, 1950 Opal and Bob Southards were united in marriage in Harrison, AR and to this union three children were born.



Opal was a Christian. She enjoyed working puzzles, being in the outdoors and cooking for her family and friends. Her joy was taking care of all her family.

Opal was preceded in death by her parents, four siblings, Betty Bristo, Neva June Rea, Sally Hill and Juanita Bristol.


Opal is survived by her husband, Bob Southards, Bradleyville, MO, three children, Craig & Debbie Southards, Trimble, MO, Randy Southards and Becky (Southards) Coffer both of Ozark, MO, five grandchildren, Brian Southards, Joy Gable, Sundee Hume, Kristen Coffer and Kayla Coffer, seven great grandchildren, one sister, Bertha Hill, Vancover, WA, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.


Funeral services for Opal will be Saturday, December 22, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. in the White River Valley Association Building, Taneyville, MO with burial in the Blair Cemetery, Bradleyville, MO. Visitation will be Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO. Officiating will be Pastor Vernon Fuller and Pastor Bill Austin.
