Ora Denia Stamper, 81 years, passed to heaven on April 18, 2010 at Cox Medical Center South, Springfield, MO.
Ora was born March 13, 1929 in Ava, MO to Audy and Izoria (Carter) Jenkins.
Ora was a resident of Sparta for few years moving from Ava, MO. She was retired from many years working at Rawlings Sporting Goods in Ava, MO. She served as President of the Labor Union and got the opportunity to go to Washington D.C. Ora had special Godparents, Wink and Jessie Croslin, that cared for her in her early years. On Oct. 18, 1944, Ora and Arlie Stamper were united in marriage and to this union six children were born. Arlie preceded her in death on April 16, 1984. On May 21, 1994 Ora and Ray Johnson were united in marriage in Ava, MO.
She was a longtime member of the Walnut Grove General Baptist Church. Ora enjoyed cooking, gardening,embroidering, listening to music and visiting with her friends and family.
Ora was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Arlie Stamper, one son, Howard, five sisters and her God Parents, Wink and Jessie Croslin.
Ora is survived by her husband, Ray Johnson, Sparta, MO, five children,Gordon Stamper of Chadwick, MO, Kenny Stamper and wife Melody of Morrisville, MO, Denia Brady and husband, Gary, Sparta, MO, Randy Stamper and wife Kim, Ava, MO and Jessie Erickson, Ozark, MO, 14 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren,three sisters, Goldie and Ruby Miller, Audrey Huffman all of Ava, MO, many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Ora will be held Thursday, April 22, 2010, at 2:00 p.m. in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO with burial in the Mt. Tabor Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, April 21, 2010 from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Officiating will be Rev. Robert Roberts and Rev. Tom Johnson. Memorials may be made to Walnut Grove General Baptist Church or St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital.
