Obituary

Orville Melvin Vogt, 85, Pontiac, MO passed away on December 23, 2010 in Springfield MO. He was born on November 3, 1925 in High Ridge, MO, the youngest child of August and Mathilda (Fuchs) Vogt. On August 24, 1946 he married Shirley Braun with whom he had two children, Gordon Orville and Ruth Ann Vogt.

Following the death of his first wife he married Mickey Cordier of Norwood, MO on February 5, 1977. They spent most of their married years in Douglas County. After a short time in Springfield, MO, Orville and Mickey moved to Pontiac, MO where they lived at the time of his death on December 23, 2010.

Orville worked in construction in the St Louis area before retiring and purchasing Bryant Springs Trout Farm in Mansfield, MO. In his younger years he enjoyed traveling throughout the United States, from California to Florida. Later he and Mickey traveled to Hawaii, Germany, and Austria, as well as taking a tour of Alaska. He especially enjoyed Hawaii and Alaska. He loved fishing and hunting, having parties, and being with friends out on Bull Shoals Lake. He was a true family man and enjoyed being with his children and grandchildren, as well as his many friends. He also carried on the family tradition of having an autumn "mulligan".

Orville was baptized and confirmed at St. Martins Evangelical and Reform Church, High Ridge, MO and later became a Baptist. He attended Price Place Church.

Orville was preceded in death by his parents, seven siblings Walter, Charles, Della (Streib), Martin, Esther (Walters), Amos, and Mae (Gottfried). He is survived by his wife, Mickey; son Gordon and Barbara Vogt, daughter Ruth Porter; step-children David and Pat Cordier of Olympia, WA, Dan and Mindy Cordier of Bruner, MO, Patricia Cordier of Springfield, MO, Debbie Cordier of Manassas, VA; numerous grandchildren; great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews. Orville was a warm, loving man and will be greatly missed.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, December 29, 2010 in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home chapel, Gainesville, MO with Jeff Corder officiating. Burial will be in the Pontiac Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday morning from 10 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.
