PALMER HOLMES

Palmer Holmes, 85, passed away February 10, 2010 at the Gainesville Health Care Center after a long battle with Alzeimers. His family was by his side. He was born June 23, 1924 in Mammoth, MO the son of Ivy and Ethel (Anderson) Holmes.

Palmer served in the U.S. Army from 1944 to 1946, during that time he was in the Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe while fighting in many battles. After returning home, he worked for Amyx Auto in Gainesville, MO and was employed with them for several years before moving onto a manager of the Purina Feed Store also in Gainesville. His last place of employment before retiring was working in security at Baxter Health Care Corp. in Mountain Home, AR.

He is survived by his wife Delphia (Duggins) Holmes, one son Danny and wife Charlotte (Willbanks) Holmes; one granddaughter Chrystal (Holmes) Meek and husband Kevin, two great grandkids Brody and Shai Meek all of Gainesville, MO; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Ivy and Ethel Holmes; two brothers Earl and Leo Holmes.

Palmer will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 PM on Saturday, February 13, 2010 at the Mammoth Assembly of God Church, Mammoth, MO with Glen Perkins officiating. Interment will follow in the Mammoth Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday evening from 5-7 PM at Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Gainesville, MO.
