PATTY JO CRISP
Patty Jo Crisp passed away on September 20, 2012 at the age of 74 in Gainesville, MO. She was born in Slaton, TX on June 13, 1938, to Robert and Aleene (Martindale) Merrell.
Patty was preceded in death by both parents; one brother Robby Merrell Sr.; one sister Rikki Merrell; and one nephew Robby Merrell Jr. She is survived by her husband Darrell Crisp; three sons, Dana Crisp and wife Marsha, Monty Crisp and wife Jana, and Lane Crisp; one daughter, Shannan McGee and husband Keith; eight grandchildren, Kasey, Nikki, Lakyn, Haley, Montana, Makinzi, Jamon and Easton; one great grandchild Cooper all of Gainesville, MO. She is also survived by her twin sister, Peggy High of Grandview, MO; along with many nieces and nephews.
Patty moved to Gainesville from Slaton, TX in 1953 where as sophomores, she and Peggy helped get baton twirling started at Gainesville High School. Patty graduated from G.H.S. in 1956. She then married Darrell Crisp and eventually started a family. Patty decided to return to school and enrolled at Southwest Missouri State University (now Missouri State University) where she graduated with a bachelor's degree in elementary education. She spent her career teaching first and third grade students until retirement.
Patty enjoyed many activities throughout her life which included: attending ballgames, reading, hiking, line dancing, bird watching, going to church, a good western and picnicking with family and friends.
Funeral services for Patty will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, September 24, 2012 in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home chapel, Gainesville, MO with Dale Roberts officiating. Burial will be in the Centerpoint Cemetery west of Gainesville. Visitation will be Monday afternoon from 1 p.m. to service time at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Centerpoint Cemetery.
